Tulipmania was driven by greed and left behind, amazing hybrid Tulips of Choice

Tulipomania

The most extraordinary power of flowers took place in Holland during the 1620-30’s which has been compared today within de-centralized currencies which are just lines of code and called a coin because we understand coins as for example, we understand what a flower bulb is. This blog is actually a reminder, that through history, society, can become obsessed with a single commodity and can cause its own economic downfall. Many Dutch stocks and commodity traders got sucked into the dream. They sought to maximize their profits by speculating on the reproduction of highly prized varieties. These happened to be notably the flamed and striped tulip bulbs, and notably not the flowers. The red-flamed white tulip bulb was highly sought after and drove the horticulture producers to create diverse hybrids, to further fuel the market of speculation and greed.

The tulip is symbolically that of love. However, it wasn’t love that drove the horticulturists and traders in Tulip bulbs. The tulip is an excellent example of how meanings change. Its initial meaning was that of love and the tulip originated in Persia, but by the time the tulip arrived in Europe. At first, the tulip became symbolic of wealth and ultimately became the symbolism of folly in 1630.

However, we would never have had such a huge variety of tulips, if the simple tulip had not been driven by speculation and greed, nor all the secretive meanings and transfer of emotions.

Many pictures of art have embraced the tulip, as a flower of beauty, it has also been painted as a flower of wealth but in today’s world is considered a flower of friendship and the varieties are amazing. We obviously stock tulips because they are very popular, but if you really want tulips that are incredible, we will buy them on the Dutch flower market and have them delivered overnight, as a beautiful flower, with the meaning of friendship, that can be incredibly healing within the recipient’s life.  The Tulip brings colour and vibrance into your and your recipients’ life.

We deliver in the borough of Caerphilly, Tredegar, RCT and of course, we deliver Tulips into Cardiff and beyond.
