The Peony Flower Experience13 February 2023The Peony flower or the plural being peonies, have around 33 different varieties and originates from Asia, North America and Europe. Peonies have a sweet scent and are low maintenance flowers. Peonies are a seasonal flower, which starts in April through to early June, with May being the peak month for flowering. May is when the Peony truly comes into it's peak flourishing period. It is possible to get Peonies to flower for longer. The peony, like most flowers, where a particular colour has a meaning or the Peony colour definition, that says the words we want to say and purveys the emotion we mean. As an example, the subtle toned light pink peony sends prosperity, luck, joy, romance and love. The peony flower is a very subtle flower, hence; subtle meanings. Peonies colours are vibrant and predominately red, pink, orange, white and yellow. There is a Peony variety where, when blooming, the colour changes. The fern leaf which contains feathery foliage is the rarest, containing a flower with a deep red. The Peony flowers close at night and can have up to 13 petals and continue to exude the most exquisite scent with a long-life span, as a cut flower. Although the Peony flower season has a narrow window, it is a beautiful delicate small headed flower, with up to 13 leaves with an exquisite sweet scent and historically, has been widely used within food and is believed to have healing properties, as a medicine as well. Not that I would advocate you to eat or use as a medicine but I will research more and if any of you have comments and knowledge. I would be very happy to read your replies. I will also point of that peonies can be poisonous to cats. I would advise any cat owner, avoid peonies but please do not avoid the time lapsed opening of the Peony flower, I have included in a link which is amazing to watch. Time lapse peony flower opening
