Daffodils16 January 2023The Daffodil is the national flower of Wales and during this rather bleak time of year, it brightens our heart and soul. The Narcissus, which is a variety of the Daffodil brings flower and scent and Tulips, which are unrelated to the Daffodil family are very popular from the perspective of the volume of colours and lifespan. The Daffodil appears to be a simplistic home flower with beautiful vibrant yellow heads and brings colour to our dull short days. However, including hybrid-cultivers, there are over 13000 varieties. I was really surprised by this. The Daffodil has connection with St David, as well as being the national flower of Wales. (I am going to source some more varieties and would appreciate some feedback). This year, I am trying very hard to source British grown flowers and support other small businesses like myself. There is even poetry about the beloved Daffodil written by William Wordsworth called "I wandered Lonely as a Cloud". If a Daffodil could inspire Wordsworth, it truly has a place, as a very special flower. The Narcissus belongs to the same family as the Daffodil. The Narcissus flower is also yellow in colour and is very fragrant. The flower is heavily scented and can come with floral scents ranging from Hyacinth, Jasmine and some varieties can exude tones of Vanilla. Tulips are very popular, at this time of year and arrive tightly bound, opening up into a myriad of different colours. There are lots of coloured Tulips, which will light up every home, with your colours of choice. Daffodils and hybrids, as well as Tulips are very pleasant flowers to have in your home or to gift to others, transmitting friendship and love.
